In the wake of Abraham Lincoln's assassination, seven men and one woman are arrested and charged with conspiring to kill the President, Vice President and Secretary of State. Against the ominous back-drop of post-Civil War Washington, newly minted lawyer Frederick Aiken, reluctantly agrees to defend the lone female defendant before a military tribunal. As the nation turns against her, Mary Surratt is forced to rely on Aiken to uncover the truth and save her life.

Featuring - Dolphin Tale. Based on true events, this family film is about Winter, a young dolphin who lost her tail in a crab trap, and Sawyer, the introverted 11-year-old boy who befriends her. Sawyer meets the rescued dolphin at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a marine rehabilitation center where she lives. Sawyer rallies friends and family alike to save Winter by convincing a pioneering doctor to create a unique prosthetic appendage to restore the dolphin's ability to swim.

Free admission and popcorn for this fun family event.

Rotary/CARE Car Show to Benefit Rotary charities, Capistrano Animal Rescue
February 4, 2012
8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Car Show once again promises a fabulous display of antique and classic cars and trucks, as well as the return of the popular New-Car Row from the 11 dealers of Capistrano Auto Center. South County Lexus will display the stunning, exotic 2012 LFA sports coupe. Attendees will also be treated to entertainment, food from Las Golondrinas, exhibits and prizes! Contributing to the family-friendly atmosphere, a number of car owners and guests bring their dogs, which must be well-behaved and leashed.

Annual Dr. Joe Cortese Memorial Motorcycle Poker Run
February 4, 2012

Honoring popular local vet who passed away in 2008, this fun ride begins at event sponsor Orange County Harley-Davidson in Irvine and wends through various south Orange County locations before finishing at the popular fund-raiser, the Annual Rotary/CARE Car Show in San Juan Capistrano. The fee of $30 for rider and $20 for passenger by Jan. 27, or thereafter $35 for rider and $25 for passenger, will include coffee and donuts, lunch, prizes for best and worst poker hand and Car Show admission.

Fiesta Association: Fiesta Grande

This night of Old West entertainment consists of four contests are rolled into one! Best Dressed Old West Man, Best Dressed Old West Woman, Best Belt Buckle, and the Hairiest Man (best moustache and/or beard). So don your finest Old West outfit, belt buckle or facial hair! and enter one or more of the contests.

There is a $5 entry fee for each contestant per contest entered. For the more timid, spectators are always welcome at the hilarious Fiesta Grandé.

If you’re not wearing western wear watch out – you might just be roped into the fun! The Deputies “arrest” anyone not dressed in western attire, or any man who is clean-shaven.

Fiesta Association: Swallows Parade & Mercado

The Parade takes place in down-town San Juan Capistrano. This is the nation's largest non-motorized parade. It is totally organized and presented by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. Arrive early; most street closures are by 10.00 a.m. The parade begins promptly at 11 am. The Mercado is a Street Fair and Market Place where you can eat, drink, and shop at over 100 booths. It is THE place to be after the parade! Listen and dance to the music of The Working Cowboy Band, a traditional country music band.

Living History Day
Take a step back in time and experience the romance of the Mission! Individuals portrayed, include Native Americans, founding padres, Soldiers or Leather jackets, Weavers and Gold Miners. For many years, the Living History Society has helped history come alive for visitors to the Mission. This group of dedicated volunteers, entertain adults and children of all ages, while sharing their love of history through the characters they portray.

Second Saturday of each month 11:00 am - 3:00 PM Authentic demonstrations and costumes. Free with Mission entrance.

San Juan Capistrano Architectural Walking Tour
Architecture buffs may want to sign up for a walk through 200 years of architecture in the city. The walkincludes adobes, Spanish-era dwellings and streamlined modern building s covers about a mile on level ground and lasts 90 minutes.

A donation of $5 per person is requested. All proceeds support the Friends of the Library. Prospective walkers should call 949-489-0736, and meet at the train depot on Verdugo Street in San Juan Capistrano at 10 AM on Saturday.

Capo Valley Symphony
The Mission presents a Symphonic Celebration Series with Sunday Evening Pops Concerts by the Capistrano Valley Symphony, May - September featuring classic symphony sounds and show tunes and popular music from the 40's to the present day in the beautiful Mission courtyard.

The music began at 6:15 p.m. each evening; 2009 Dates: May 30, June 28, July 26, August 29 and September 20

Music Under the Stars
Featuring dining and dancing in the beautiful Mission courtyard to a variety of live music including Big Band, Latina, Top 40 and more!

Concert runs from 6:30-9:30 pm. Seven concert evenings are scheduled for 2009. Tables are available.

Multicultural Art Series
The Series provides multiple shows each year, with one show per month from November through February, and 2 shows per month the rest of the year.

Concert times are 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). Performances last about one hour.

J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center Annual County BBQ

Over 1500 attendees attend this traditional family barbecue in a casual setting featuring live country western entertainment, activities for children, live and silent auctions and riding demonstrations throughout the evening. All proceeds benefit the programs of the J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities through horsemanship.
